PUZZLE #23:  T-rex Hunt!

Wait a minute!  Is that a dinosaur??

Harry Anderson never painted a dinosaur in any of paintings!

No, he didn’t — here’s what that hunting scene looked like in Harry Anderson’s 1964 “Quail Hunt” illustration for SPORTS AFIELD magazine:

Rex1964art web

When I layed out this scene into my jigsaw puzzle, the area with the Quail looked “too empty”… so I had my dinosaur artist friend Bryan Riolo add in a T-rex!

Now we’ve got ourselves an **EXCITING puzzle**!!!

Bryan also added Harry’s signature and the text along the top — here’s what the art looked like that I sent to the puzzle company….

A beautiful painting… but it has 2 text boxes blocking the art… so we added 2 pics of Harry into those boxes (and a big scan of Harry’s signature)!

Jesus at the Helm

(Available from R&H Publishing as of July 2014)

A word of caution:  This is a 1,000-piece puzzle, which I don’t like doing — the pieces are too many and too small for the puzzle to be “fun”….

All the puzzles that I have had made were 550-piece puzzles — below I show one of their LARGER PIECES next to the smaller pieces:

JesusHelmPieces web

I sorted out all the “connected” puzzle pieces, and attempted to do the border…

JesusHelm1000web

I really hate 1000+ piece puzzles — do you know how many times you have to handle each of those 1000 pieces to organize them, sort them, then try to match each of their 4 sides?!?  Somebody should do the math on this, because I have the feeling that to complete something like this a person has to go through at least 250,000 mind-eye-hand coordination movements!!!!!!!

That is *NOT* something that is “fun” to do!!!

Oh, I did accidentally find parts of the faces, and Harry Anderson’s sig…

JesusHelmSig web

But that is probably as far as this puzzle will ever go.
