Back in June 1986 Kurt Reichenbach and I visited Harry…
I took this pic of Kurt holding Harry’s really cute painting of a Rabbit Lady….
It took me 27 years to find the magazine it was in…
ON JUNE 13, 2013 I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!
**I FOUND IT**
The short story is really cute — the girl’s mother is listening to her daughter read a story she wrote about a Rabbit Mom who kept yelling at her Rabbit Daughter whenever she made too much noise or accidentally knocks things over — the mom realizes it’s about her and she is greatly embarassed about her behavior — and “her ears were burning” so much that it suggested that the mom had a “very long pair of ears indeed.”
And I later found out that Harry’s daughter Kristin posed as the schoolgirl in this painting!
Cute story — and it was GREAT to finally find it!!!

Two exquisite examples of Harry’s painting brillance….
“The Mad Draycotts” Pt 1 – February 1953
What a *gorgeous* forest scene!! I just wish that big text balloon wasn’t there so we could see the entire painting!
When Nathan Greene saw this one he wrote:
“Hey, Jim, Thanks for the scan. That’s a beautiful Harry Anderson. Hard to paint forest interiors effortlessly. So many ’50s illustrators worried that their magazine work would be discarded and forgotten forever. If it wasn’t for people like Leif Peng and Dan Zimmer and you, it might have suffered that fate.”

“The Mad Draycotts” Pt 2 – March 1953
Another gorgeous example of Harry Anderson’s painting brillance — the smooth-toned faces are stunningly nice, and there again is the green-glass lamp he often used in his paintings casting its soft glow over the scene…
